What is a GiftCard? 
The GiftCard is a card that is processed electronically by a payment terminal. It is the modern alternative to a gift voucher. Once activated, a GiftCard can be used to pay for goods with the corresponding merchant up to a certain, set amount. |

Is there any experience with gift cards in other countries?
Gift cards have been available for some time now in the United States and Britain, and their use is continuing to increase. The experiences of merchants are certainly positive: sales of gift cards are significantly higher than gift vouchers. There are already outlets in some countries where gift cards from different stores can be bought. |
What are the requirements for selling and processing GiftCards?
For you to benefit from GiftCards as a merchant, you need a “GiftCard by SIX Multi Solutions” agreement (to sell gift cards) and an ep2 terminal from SIX Card Solutions AG. |
What will it cost me to introduce GiftCards?
The cost of the GiftCards depends on the volume you order, the type of gift packaging used and the quantity of POS articles. Added to this is a one-off activation fee. We would be happy to give you a concrete quote. |
What services are included in the initial costs?
The activation fee includes:
- order processing
- terminal activation
- the initial order and shipping
The basic services also cover the following:
- participation in the GiftCard system
- an unlimited number of GiftCard transactions
- monthly e-mail reports
- single-colour card printing of your logo or company name |
Do I need to order a certain number of cards?
The minimum order is for 300 cards in order units of 50 card designs each. These can be loaded with pre-defined or freely selectable amounts of up to CHF1000. |
What is the card layout like?
Six different card designs are available at present, including special designs for birthdays or Christmas. As a merchant, you can have your company name or company logo (single or four colour) printed on the cards. |
Can I design my own, personal card?
If the quantity of cards you order is less than 500, you can only select the pre-printed card designs. If you order more than 1000 cards, we would be happy to give you a quote taking account of your wishes. |
What amounts can be loaded onto the card?
If an amount (CHF20, 50 or 100) is pre-printed on the GiftCard, exactly this amount must be loaded. If no amount is printed on the GiftCard, any amount up to the contractually agreed ceiling of CHF1000 can be entered. You decide when ordering whether the card has a pre-printed amount or not. |
Are the cards I order already loaded?
No. The cards are not activated until bought. This means that you can present the GiftCards at the point of sale and put them in your customers' line of vision. |
Does the credit need to be pre-financed?
No. Pre-financing of credit is not necessary. The card balance is not loaded until the card is sold and paid for by the buyer. |

Are POS articles included in the product package?
Since the needs of our merchants in terms of the use of POS articles vary greatly, various POS articles can be obtained separately. Two different displays to showcase the cards and a rotair in A4 format are currently available. POS articles can be ordered when the contract is concluded or re-ordered directly at a later point in time using the online portal . |

How is the card used?
The GiftCard works like this. The customer simply inserts the card into the terminal to pay like a debit or credit card. Once he has pressed the OK key, the amount is deducted from his balance. He does not have to enter a PIN code or provide a signature. |
Can a customer top up his card in my store?
We do not offer any cards that can be topped up at present. If there is sufficient demand, however, we will consider introducing such cards in the future. |
How can I keep tabs on card issued and unused balances?
SIX Multi Solutions sends you monthly reports showing the number of cards issued , their outstanding balances and redemptions made. In addition, you can obtain your own reports at any time on the online portal at www.telekurs-multi-solutions.ch/giftcard. This means that you enjoy far greater transparency than with gift vouchers. |
What happens if the cards are stolen from my store?
Since our GiftCards are not activated until sold, the damage is limited to the intrinsic value of the cards. You are responsible for this |
How long is the card valid for?
Our GiftCards are valid for 24 months from the date of activation. |
What happens to the unused balance when the card expires?
The cards expire after 24 months, no matter how much balance is left unused. When the card expires, the owner no longer has any claim against the merchant. Thus unused balance passes definitively to the merchant. |
Can I return unsold cards to SIX Multi Solutions?
No, ordered cards cannot be taken back. So we recommend that you calculate the quantity you order carefully. This is particularly important in the case of seasonal items such as Christmas cards. However, unsold GiftCards do not expire and can be kept for sale for years to come. |
Can I send back used GiftCards for recycling?
Returned cards can be collected and sent periodically to Intercard AG, Card Recycling, Baslerstrasse 102, CH-8048 Zurich. The cards are disposed of properly by Intercard. |
Why do I conclude an agreement with SIX Multi Solutions?
This is due to the fact that SIX Multipay set up the SIX Multi Solutions subsidiary to handle products that are subject to value-added tax. Both GiftCard and the Mobile Services products are subject to value-added tax. |
